My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for a new SUV, and we ended up being helped by Rob Vanoverschot. I was nervous about going to a dealership as I'd never purchased off of a lot before - and Rob made the process a breeze! He answered all of our questions and never made us feel pressured at all! We test drove about 6 different makes and models and fell in love with a 2019 Ford Escape. I would highly recommend Rob and Key West Ford, even the financing department and insurance department made this process enjoyable! Not to mention they had the best prices around - and we came all the way out from Abbotsford!

I was extremely happy with most of the folks I spoke with during my time at Key West. It took me 3 days of visiting the dealership to make sure I was making the right decision on the vehicle for my needs and my budget. All staff but one understood that this purchase wasn't an easy one to make within my budget. Peter Olsen, Michael Nokes and Robert Klaus really understood why I needed to take my time and research all my options. I appreciated their kindness and patience and didn't feel at all pressured into the sale.

Key West Ford Offers Halloween Tips For Trick-or-Treaters

bc ford dealerGhosts and goblins are taking over the road - and causing great concern for drivers.

Halloween is coming. Children are flocking to the streets, searching for candy and good times. They don’t spare thoughts for safety. They’re only interested in fun. Trying to maneuver through neighborhoods and rural roads can prove dangerous, however, and each year brings the possibility of an accident.

Key West Ford wants to avoid this. We now offer some helpful tips to improve visibility while trick-or-treating this year:

Wear White Clothing

Black may be Halloween’s signature color, but white is far better on the road. Drivers can spy a bright object up to 200 feet in advance - as opposed to a dark object at 20 feet.

Use Reflective Accessories

If a child’s costume must be dark, add reflective accents to the front and back. Consider arm bands, luminescent tape, glow-in-the-dark candy bags and more.

Walk In Pairs

Safety in numbers doesn’t just protect against things that go bump in the night. Instead it makes visibility far easier. Drivers are more likely to see groups than an individual. Pair up!

Use these tips to create a safe and fun Halloween environment.

Key West Ford Supports Hyack Association At Issaquah Grande Parade

Tags:
(Posted on Oct 8, 2013 at 07:58AM by Lee Byard)

bc ford dealerKey West Ford believes in the power of community, which is why we are thrilled to sponsor the Hyack Association. This organization celebrates the history - and beauty - of New Westminster, showcasing the city through a series of parades, festivals and live entertainments.

Continuing that tradition proved difficult this year, however, when it was discovered that Hyack lacked the funds to enter the esteemed Issaquah Grande Parade: an annual event in which groups from across the Northwest compete with floats. It’s a source of great community pride to win the Parade - but Hyack seemed destined to miss out on the opportunity.

Key West Ford thought that was unacceptable.

We instead donated the necessary funds for their dedicated team of young women to travel to Issaquah where they presented their float  - and we are supremely pleased to announce that they secured the Issaquah Rotary Award!

As Galvin Palmer, president of the Hyack Festival Association, explained: “Thank you so much for your generous donation, topping up the funds to allow our girls to go to Issaquah and complete their year in style.”

Congratulations, Hyack! We are proud of your accomplishment!

The F-150 is a Ford signature, blending premium power with unparalleled design. The 2013 model is no exception.

The 2013 Ford F-150 is a 365 HP powerhouse. Its 4-valve V6 engine is exceptional, while the use of EcoBoost technology provides optimum fuel efficiency. A 420 torque ratio proves essential, and direct injection systems increase overall performance and capacity.

Strength isn’t the only advantage of the new F-150, however. Instead it boasts an exceptionally smooth ride. This vehicle has independent double-wishbone suspension, solid axle springing and pressurized shocks. This allows it to dominate any terrain with ease and comfort.

Check out this video of the 2013 F-150 as it challenges the Silverado 1500. Key West Ford thinks you’ll be impressed.

Ford’s $700 Million Investment at Oakville Solidifies 2,800 Jobs to Meet Global Customer Demand

  • Ford’s C$700 million investment in Oakville Assembly secures 2,800 jobs, making it one of the most competitive and advanced global manufacturing plants in Canada
  • Global manufacturing helps Ford meet increasing demand for its new, fuel-efficient vehicles in world markets
  • Ford has now invested more than C$2 billion in Canada in less than a decade
  • Spending on Canadian-made auto parts by Ford to increase approximately C$200 million a year, to a total of nearly C$4 billion annually

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Sept. 19, 2013 – Ford Motor Company, Canada’s top-selling automaker, is investing C$700 million at its Oakville Assembly plant, securing more than 2,800 jobs and expanding its manufacturing capability to meet surging global demand.

“This investment is helping us find much needed capacity for global products and securing jobs, and it is positioning Oakville as one of the most competitive and important facilities in the Ford system,” said Joe Hinrichs, president of The Americas, speaking from a ceremony at the plant today. “Global fuel-efficient products, built in a state-of-the- art facility, by a great workforce are a win for everyone today.”

Hinrichs said Ford will bring several new global models to the plant, helping to meet demand in North America and around the world by producing vehicles with best-in-class quality, fuel efficiency, smart design and value. He added that the company’s investment will mean its spending on Canadian-made auto parts will increase by approximately C$200 million, to a total of nearly C$4 billion annually.

The enhancements at Oakville Assembly are Ford’s latest step in maximizing its existing North American manufacturing assets, matching production to consumer demand as Ford’s North American sales surge to pre-recession levels. Sales of the Oakville Assembly-produced Edge in the United States – Edge’s biggest market – so far in 2013 are on pace to beat the prior record of 130,000 vehicles set in 2007.

The move to global manufacturing at the Oakville plant will enable Ford to shift production based on consumer demand more quickly and efficiently. The state-of-the-art facility will be able to align capacity of any one vehicle with real demand for Ford customers in North America and all over the world.

“If consumers suddenly shift their buying habits, we can seamlessly change our production mix without having to idle a plant,” said Hinrichs. “Flexible manufacturing enables us to get vehicles to consumers faster than ever before. This is a great value proposition for everyone.”

Ford currently utilizes nine global platforms around the world to build about 85 per cent of its vehicles. Global manufacturing offers Ford the opportunity to leverage commonality of components, design and build processes to streamline its ability to produce high- quality vehicles and accelerate production to meet growing consumer demand for Ford products.

“Ford’s investment demonstrates Canada can be competitive in the global market through strategic partnerships,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “Working closely with government and labour, we have secured a bright future for our employees at Oakville Assembly.”

As part of the investment, Ford will also be increasing its sustainability and fuel efficiency research and development capacity in Ontario, including supporting studies in vehicle light-weighting, the reduction of stationary emissions from industrial facilities, and research into advanced engine development at Ford’s powertrain research facilities in Windsor.

With today’s announcement, Ford has now invested more than C$2 billion in Canada in less than a decade. In 2004, Ford announced a C$1 billion investment for Oakville Assembly to introduce flexible manufacturing to the facility. In 2010, the company announced a C$590 million investment for Essex Engine Plant in Windsor.
Investment in auto manufacturing directly benefits the Canadian economy. It is estimated every auto job generates up to 10 supporting jobs.

Work on the transformation at Oakville Assembly is already under way. It is expected to be completed by fall 2014.

“This is an incredible year for Oakville Assembly,” said Will Cowell, plant manager, Oakville Assembly. “We are celebrating the plant’s 60th anniversary and we passed the one-million mark in Ford Edge production. We look forward to continuing to celebrate many more milestones and to building quality vehicles with passion and excellence for years to come.”

Oakville Assembly manufactures Ford Edge, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKX and Lincoln MKT

Key West Ford Says Goodbye To Beloved Employee

Tags:
(Posted on Sep 19, 2013 at 07:43AM by Lee Byard)

bc ford dealerSaying goodbye to family is never easy. Earlier this week we lost one of our own.

Joey Cheba, a valued member of our sales team and our dear friend, died late Monday evening of causes yet to be determined. While there are still questions, the how and the why are less important than the 'who'; the fact is that we've all lost a member of our Key West family.

Joey was a hard worker, a tenacious salesman, and most importantly a good friend to us. In his two years with us he proved himself time and time again by coming in to work everyday with a good attitude and achievement on his mind despite a myriad of health problems that would've driven a weaker person to quitting. He often said, "Any day I'm well enough to come in to work is a good day." He was on his way to leading a healthier lifestyle and to achieving both his personal and professional goals.

He is survived by his wife and young son. To aid them in this difficult time we decided that partial proceeds from every vehicle sold from now until the end of the month will go to them. It's the least we can do in Joey's absence. His presence was a boon to this place and his impact will be felt here for years to come.

The 2013 Show and Shine was an unparalleled success, flooding New Westminster with lights, laughter and legendary cars. Drivers celebrated (and debated) their favorite engines, while families indulged in live entertainment. It was the perfect compromise of horsepower and sheer fun.

And, despite the massive crowds, Key West Ford knows that not every customer could attend the 2013 Show and Shine - which is why we now offer a promotional video. This Blue Pencil production captures the spirit of the event, letting our drivers experience the entire day in a matter of minutes.

Marvel at classic cars on display. Smile as local bands take the stage. See our dedicated staff provide service tips and tricks. Every frame offers excitement.

Watch now - and remember to mark your calendar for the upcoming 2014 Show and Shine!
