My Purchase with Peter Olson

When I met Peter he first started by asked as many questions as he could about the truck I was looking for. My use of the truck, the age of the truck, the price range, interior style, preferred colour and so on. Peter called and had a few trucks for me to look at and drive to compare. I spent about 3 hours with Peter and it was a casual afternoon and a lot of questions were answered.I enjoyed my purchase with Peter.

Fantastic Salesman, beware additional fees!

I purchased a vehicle from Alan at the beginning of the month and he was a pleasure to work with. Very quick response to my email enquiry and set up a test drive at my convenience. He was friendly and professional throughout the entire process making sure that the whole transaction was a pleasant one. However, the dealership has a couple of additional fees they add to your purchase after you've agreed to a price. A $199 insurance transfer fee and a $795 service fee which added $1000 to the final invoice presented for signature. No mention of these fees before this which was disappointing. Fees are a necessary evil when buying a vehicle but this dealership needs to be up front about them like they are with the documentation fee of $599.

Ford CEO Allan Mulally Dismisses Microsoft Rumors

Tags:
(Posted on Feb 1, 2014 at 07:22AM by Lee Byard)

alan mulally fordRumors shape the automotive industry. Insiders are always sharing secrets, gossip and assumptions.

Key West Ford is happy to report, however, that one particular assumption has proven to be false.

Alan Mulally - Chief Executive Officer of Ford, noted for transforming declining market shares into powerhouse performers - is not abandoning the second largest automaker in North America. Speculations have swirled about Mulally leaving Ford to join the Microsoft team. A statement released in January 2014, however, dismissed these claims.

“I have no other plans to do anything other than serve Ford,” said Mulally, effectively quashing concerns.

Mulally began his Ford career in 2006, after serving as an engineer and program manager for the Boeing company. At the time the automaker was known only for waning sales. Mulally changed this, however, by introducing a fleet of new vehicles, eliminating unnecessary expenses and redefining the North American brand.

Through his dedication Ford experienced a series of profitable quarters, once again becoming a premier manufacturer and trend-setter.

Key West Ford is pleased that Alan Mulally will remain a vital - and vocal - figure in the automotive industry. We’re excited to see how he will continue to shape the market for many years to come.

exercise tips 2014You love your car - and so you keep it properly maintained, servicing it regularly and maximizing its potential. You’ve mastered alignments, suspension systems and the art of filtration.

Key West Ford applauds your vehicular dedication.

We also ask that you now spare a little for yourself.

Take time to get away from the wheel and develop a healthy lifestyle. Give yourself the same care and attention you give your car, creating a routine that keeps you active and strong.

Aren’t certain how to do this? Don’t want to waste your morning at the gym? Let Key West Ford offer some simple - but effective - exercises for everyday excellence.

Walking

The best way to get your engine going is to walk. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park farther from your workplace entrance. Get up once every hour and set a brisk pace down the hall. March in place while watching your favorite shows. Little actions can yield big results.

Jumping Jacks

This isn’t just an exercise for children. It’s also a perfect option for adults, kicking every routine into high gear by increasing your heart rate, elevating your metabolism and developing core muscles.

Invest In Pedaling

Consider buying a pedaling machine. Place it under your desk or beside your couch, keeping your legs in motion even as you sit. This will help to strengthen your muscles, as well as burn calories.

Squats

Do cycles of squats throughout the day, utilizing any available chair to bend and stretch. These movements target the thighs and hips, as well as increase ligament and tendon performance. They can be done in short, quick bursts at home or the office.

Remember these exercises to keep yourself in top condition and soon you'll rival your car!

Key West Ford Offers Vehicle Safety Tips For Drivers

(Posted on Jan 18, 2014 at 04:07PM by Lee Byard)

safety tips for drivers canadaThe story is all too common: a stranger shoves his way into a vehicle, forcing the driver to leave the safety of a parking garage for the uncertainty of the road. He threatens her; he harms her; and there is no happy ending.

Every year thousands of individuals are attacked near or in their vehicles - and Key West Ford wants this to stop.

Use these safety tips to lessen the chance of an abduction, theft or assault.

Monitor Surroundings

Be aware of every parking garage, lot or street corner. Note the location of other cars, other drivers and any suspicious loitering.

Check Vehicles Before Entering

Before opening a vehicle door scan the backseat and hatch areas. Be certain that no one else is inside.

Don’t Sit In The Car

Many drivers idle after completing errands, sitting in their cars to text, snack or balance their checkbooks. This is a mistake. It gives abductors a chance to open unlocked passenger doors or even break windows. Leave an area immediately to avoid this.

Take Advantage Of Safety Features

New vehicles boast many safety features - such as interior trunk releases or fold-down seats - that aid drivers in escaping their cars. Verfiy which options are available and understand how to use them.

Be Prepared To Wreck A Vehicle

If a driver finds himself held at gunpoint in his car, he has one choice: crash. Do not go where an abductor wants. Do not leave the area. Choose instead to ram a vehicle into the nearest surface, rendering it unusable and stunning the perpetrator.

Key West Ford wants our drivers to be safe. We urge all of New Westminster to remember these tips.

Key West Ford Urges Drivers To Choose Winter Tires This Season

Tags:
(Posted on Jan 9, 2014 at 01:11PM by Lee Byard)

driving in snow with winter tires canadaA new year has begun, but December’s cold conditions are still raging on. Drivers find themselves yet again under siege by snow, sleet and slush - and too often do they also find themselves skidding across the roads, their summer tires losing traction and their engines unable to compensate for the sudden spirals. Accidents are common and unfortunate.

They’re also preventable with the proper tires.

Key West Ford wants all drivers to be safe in 2014. This is why we strongly encourage the use of winter tires.

Winter tires, as their name suggests, are intended for the snowy season. Advanced treading effortlessly powers through ice, while innovative sipes guide vehicles with intense suction. Rubber casings prove supple in harsh weather and adapt to extreme temperatures - up to -7 degrees Celsius, according to the Traffic Industry Research Foundation - with ease.

Summer tires, and even all-weather tires, do not.

These options instead falter on wet roads. Their weak materials turn brittle in the cold, and their uneven treads directly impact even the most sophisticated Ford stability functions. They offer no control and no support - and this causes countless accidents each year.

Some drivers argue against the need for winter tires, claiming them to be too expensive and too tedious to mount. Key West Ford can counter both of these points, however: it’s far more expensive to pay for car repairs and our service department will provide the necessary installation. There is no reason to choose inadequate tires this January.

Key West Ford Has Winter Maintenance Tips For Drivers

Tags:
(Posted on Dec 12, 2013 at 10:28AM by Lee Byard)

bc ford dealerNew Westminster finds itself once again at the mercy of winter. Temperatures are steadily decreasing as precipitation is steadily increasing, and the result is a wet and wicked season for drivers.

As this winter trudges on many Ford owners may find themselves staying inside. This is a wise decision - unless their cars pay the price.

Car maintenance is a challenge in the best conditions but, as Key West Ford reminds you, it’s a challenge you can’t avoid - especially now. Snow, sleet and ice will wreak havoc on any engine. Frequent check-ups are, therefore, essential.

Trek out to the garage and keep these maintenance tips in mind:

Inspect all lights and bulbs.

Check oil levels and filters.

Replace any damaged air, fuel or PCV filters.

Examine the exhaust system for leaks or cracks (this is especially important during the winter, when drivers are more likely to leave their vehicles running in enclosed spaces. Carbon can quickly build if a system is faulty).

Check tires for wear or tears.

Test heating system.

Flush cooling system.

Examine windshield blades for dull edges.

These simple suggestions will help your car’s performance this season - especially when coupled with a comprehensive inspection from Key West Ford’s service department. Contact us today to learn more about winter maintenance and how to best protect your vehicle.

Key West Ford Offers Driving Tips For Winter

Tags:
(Posted on Dec 11, 2013 at 10:18AM by Lee Byard)

bc fordDecember has arrived, much to the dismay of Ford drivers. The days turn bleak, shaped by endless snow and sleet. Storms pummel the roads, and black ice reigns supreme. Traveling is a challenge.

It’s also a danger - if drivers don’t take the proper precautions.

Key West Ford wants all of New Westminster to be safe this season. Let us offer some winter tips to make those road-trips less hazardous. Remember:

Always accelerate and decelerate slowly during cold conditions. Quick bursts of power will only result in loss of traction.

Utilize threshold braking, applying steady pressure to the brakes rather than pushing down at once.

Avoid cruise control or overdrive.

Have winter tires, not all-season tires.

Remain in low gear to sustain traction.

Know your brakes. Standard brakes require gentle pumping. Anti-lock brakes, however, require no pumping and will not perform if mishandled.

Increase visibility by keeping lights on at all times.

Maintain at least three car lengths between other drivers. This will increase response times and decrease the likelihood of collisions.

Key West Ford encourages drivers to use these tips while traveling. Stay safe!

Key West Ford Urges Drivers To Have Preparedness Kits

Tags:
(Posted on Dec 2, 2013 at 01:24PM by Lee Byard)

bc ford dealerAccidents, unfortunately, happen.

Winter comes roaring in, pounding roads with snow and sleet. Vehicles - no matter how carefully maintained, no matter how slowly driven - fail. And a simple trip out of town becomes a whirl of ice and treading.

Key West Ford wants you to be safe this season - and that requires more than just having your car inspected. You must instead have a preparedness kit.

A preparedness kit is, as the name implies, a way to prepare for possible situations. It offers a collection of necessary, but often overlooked, items that can help individuals who’ve been in accidents. Key West Ford recommends that its drivers all carry:

Flash lights
Extra blankets
Water
Non-perishable food items
A collapsible shovel
First Aid supplies
Spare mechanics (including jumper cables, tires plugs, locking pliers, an adjustable wrench and wire cutters)
Kitty litter
Fire extinguisher

These items are essential in an emergency. Key West Ford strongly urges drivers to have them at all times. They will not prevent accidents, but they can prevent further complications. Stay safe.
